Exposing Your Company's Hidden Login Pages: A Growing Threat in Cybersecurity

A recent report by Cisco's Talos team highlighted a vulnerability in Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) that allowed a ransomware operator to gain access to sensitive data.

The flaw, tracked as CVE-2026-20316, lets a remote attacker sign in to an unpatched FMC with a low-privileged account and reach sensitive data.

Cisco published its advisory on July 29, the same day CISA added the bug to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog.

The problem often begins with a management login that someone inadvertently left accessible from any location. IT teams can find exposed interfaces using tools like Shodan or by running an external vulnerability scan of their public addresses.
