FAA Clears Boeing 737 MAX Software Bug as Non-Safety Concern
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has concluded that a software bug in Boeing's 737 MAX 10 aircraft is not a safety concern.
The glitch, which was discovered during certification testing, can cause an automated navigation feature to fail when planes shift their approach to landing. However, the FAA noted that pilots retain full control of the aircraft and receive clear indications if the issue arises.
Boeing will send a bulletin to airlines detailing the issue and instructing employees on how to respond in case the glitch occurs. The aerospace giant is also working with airlines to formalize a procedure for restoring automated flight guidance in such situations.
