Florida AG Cracks Down on Online Sweepstakes Casinos Advertised by Tech Giants

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier is cracking down on online sweepstakes casinos that target residents in his state. He sent letters to major tech companies, including Google and Meta, claiming they may be illegally advertising these sites.

The sweepstakes operators named by Uthmeier include Chumba Casino, LuckyLand, Global Poker, and Stake. These websites use a dual-currency model that disguises real-money gambling by bundling 'Gold Coins' with 'Stake Cash' or 'Sweeps Coins.'

Uthmeier argues that these platforms market themselves as 'free, safe, legal 'social' entertainment,' but are actually promoting online casinos. He is seeking confirmation from Google and other tech companies on the steps they have taken to ensure compliance with Florida law.
