Galena Man Sues Home Depot Over Lumber Rack Accident

A Galena, Kansas man has filed a lawsuit against Home Depot in Joplin, Missouri, alleging that he was injured when lumber fell from a metal rack on December 28, 2023. James A. Johnson claims to have suffered severe injuries to his head, neck, and left elbow after an employee removed safety cables from the racks, allowing heavy lumber to fall.

The lawsuit alleges premises liability and negligence against Home Depot, stating that the company had or allowed a dangerous condition to exist on their property. According to the petition, Johnson was shopping for lumber at the time of the incident and requested assistance from an employee, who then removed the safety cables.

The injuries described in the petition are said to be permanent, disabling, and progressive, causing Johnson pain, loss of pleasure, and damages since the date of the accident.
