Game Industry News: Sega Partners with Netflix, Google Settles With UK Developers

The video game industry saw significant developments in various sectors last week, with key announcements and partnerships unveiled.

Sega's Crazy Taxi franchise is set to expand its reach beyond gaming with a Netflix film adaptation. The project will be written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who previously worked on the reboot of The Naked Gun. Sega has also confirmed that the next game in the series, Crazy Taxi: World Tour, is scheduled for release in 2027.

Meanwhile, Google has agreed to a £260 million settlement with UK app developers regarding commissions charged by Google Play. This agreement comes after a long-running dispute and will see £160 million allocated to eligible developers, while £100 million will cover litigation funding, insurance, legal, and other costs.
