General Electric Co. is stepping up efforts to boost engine deliveries for Boeing Co.'s 787 Dreamliner, as the aircraft manufacturer aims to increase production of its widely used widebody jet. In an interview on Tuesday, GE CEO Larry Culp acknowledged that there is still work to be done to meet Boeing's production goals. He stated, "We’ve got more work to do, as do others who are on the program, to make sure that Boeing’s in a position to to click up those build rates."
GE delivered over 50 GEnX engines for the 787 in the third quarter, a sign of progress but not yet sufficient to meet Boeing's ramp-up plans. The company is collaborating with other partners involved in the 787 program to ensure that Boeing can accelerate its production rates. Culp's comments highlight the ongoing challenges in aligning supply chain capabilities with Boeing's ambitious production targets.
