Gemini App Lands on Windows Desktop

Google has finally released the Gemini app for Windows, allowing users to access its AI assistant directly from their desktop. The app is available globally starting today and can be summoned using the Alt + Space keyboard shortcut.

The Gemini team announced the release on X, stating that the app stays quietly in the background and supports many of Gemini's advanced tools, including Gemini Spark for multi-step tasks and Connected Apps like Gmail and Google Drive.

Visually, the app feels very familiar to those who already use Gemini on the web, with a clean layout and expandable sidebar for conversations and account options. The app also includes a proper Settings menu where users can control app permissions and usage statistics.

This is different from Google's other Windows app, which focuses on search rather than acting as a full Gemini client. The new app brings the familiar web experience into a dedicated Windows window and offers extra shortcut and permission controls.
