Google Deploys Trio of Subsea Cables Across Americas

Google has announced a major expansion of its global network infrastructure in the Americas with three new subsea cable systems: Alisios, Canoa, and OlaLuz. These systems will form part of Google's Americas Connect initiative, which also includes a new branch for the Firmina cable and previous investments in several other cables.

The Alisios system will connect the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Chile, interlinking with a ring from the Dominican Republic to the US East Coast. This will provide connectivity to Google Cloud regions in South Carolina and Virginia. The Canoa system, meanwhile, will connect the Dominican Republic directly to Bermuda, enabling a highly reliable connection between Latin America and the Caribbean and Europe and North America.

The OlaLuz system will connect the Dominican Republic directly to Florida, significantly strengthening network capacity between the Caribbean and the US East Coast. Google is also introducing a new branch of the Firmina cable that will land directly in the Dominican Republic, extending Firmina's high-capacity reach and providing additional connectivity to the Caribbean.
