Google Develops Math-Focused DeepThink Model with Energetic Internal Monologue
Google is reportedly working on a math-specialized variant of its DeepThink model, code-named 'Mathematica'. The information comes from leaked screenshots shared by popular leaker Lyra on X. These screenshots show the experimental build built on top of DeepThink V3 and detail its backend configuration, which indicates it's being tuned for heavy calculations and complex symbolic problem-solving.
The model carries the internal identifier 'models/deepthink-mathematica-tf-raw-thoughts' and supports a massive one-million-token context window alongside a 65,536-token output limit. The label 'UNSTABLE_EXPERIMENTAL' and 'Teamfood' are also mentioned in the screenshots.
The interesting part is that the model's internal monologue shows it cheering and blurting out excited phrases while working through complex mathematical equations. This includes phrases such as 'HOLY MOTHER OF MATHEMATICS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' and 'OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!'. While this might seem amusing, it also indicates the level of enthusiasm the model shows towards mathematical problem-solving.
It's not surprising to see Google working on a math-specialized DeepThink model, given its previous efforts in pushing into hardcore reasoning. The company has already launched Gemini 3.8 Live and Live Extended Thinking for multi-step reasoning, and this new development is likely a continuation of that effort. However, it's worth noting that the new model has not yet been publicly confirmed by Google, and it may or may not reach the public depending on how it performs in internal tests.
