Google Faces £1.2 Billion Lawsuit Over Excessive App Download Fees
Google is preparing to defend itself against a £1.2 billion lawsuit filed in the UK over allegedly excessive charges for app downloads.
The lawsuit, which involves a group of claimants who downloaded apps from Google Play Store between June 2016 and December 2020, alleges that the company charged users more than was necessary.
According to reports, the charge in question was an 'app download fee' which ranged from £1.29 to £2.99 per app download, with some users reportedly paying up to £19 for a single download.
