Google Gemini Rolls Out 'Call for Me' Feature for Routine Tasks

Google has added a new feature to its Gemini platform called Call For Me, which allows users in the US to make phone calls on their behalf. The feature is currently available to Pixel 11 owners who hold a paid Gemini subscription and are part of the Phone by Google Public Beta program.

To use Call For Me, users can trigger it using the `@Call For Me` tag or a voice prompt, then describe what outcome they want - such as booking a table at a restaurant or confirming product availability. Gemini will check that it understands the task, ask for confirmation, and then place the call itself.

Google is keeping the scope of Call For Me deliberately narrow, focusing on routine tasks like making reservations or checking stock levels. The company advises against using it for important calls, citing fraud protections and daily usage caps to prevent abuse.

The feature is currently only available in the US, with no timeline for expansion to other countries. Google plans to bring Call For Me to more markets eventually, but has not specified when or which ones first.
