Google Launches Android-Powered Laptops With Seamless Phone Integration

Google's new laptops, called Googlebooks, are now available for pre-order and will ship on October 4. These devices run on Android, which is a significant departure from the ChromeOS that powered previous Chromebooks.

The main selling point of Googlebooks is their ability to seamlessly integrate with an Android phone, making them more like a Mac and iPhone combination than a traditional laptop and smartphone pair. According to Sameer Samat, president of Android, 'Our first step is to focus on our Android community, because today, there isn't a laptop platform built to work seamlessly with your Android phone.'

Googlebooks feature several AI-powered tools, including the Magic Pointer, which is an AI-powered cursor that can detect specific elements on the screen and select them. This tool is part of the Gemini features that have been available in ChromeOS for a few years.
