Google Launches Google Health App, Integrating Wearables and AI Coaching
Google has rebranded its Fitbit app as Google Health, positioning it as a comprehensive platform for fitness, wellness, and medical data. The new app is designed to integrate data from various sources, including wearable devices, Health Connect, Apple HealthKit, and users' medical records into a unified dashboard.
The goal of the rebranded app is to provide users with a more complete picture of their health, allowing them to see activity, sleep, nutrition, and clinical records in one place. This is made possible through Google's Gemini AI models, which can adapt fitness plans based on user activity and wellness data.
Google Health Coach, the Gemini-powered assistant previously tested inside the Fitbit app, is now officially launching as part of Google Health Premium. The feature will provide personalized workout recommendations, answer health questions, summarize medical records, and more.
The rebranded app also introduces Fitbit Air, a screenless wearable designed for continuous monitoring rather than smartwatch-style interaction. The device is specifically built to work closely with the Health Coach system and comes in two versions: standard ($99) and Stephen Curry special edition ($129). Buyers will receive three months of Google Health Premium free.
