Google Maps has updated its US-based maps to reflect President Donald Trump's executive order renaming 'Lake Ontario' to 'Lake America'. This change is in response to an escalating trade feud with Canada, which has prompted both countries to impose reciprocal tariffs on billions of dollars in goods.

The White House and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney's office have not commented on Google's decision. However, Canadian Premier Doug Ford unveiled a sign reading 'Lake Ontario: Now and Always' in English and French at a lakeside event.

Phil Scott, the Republican governor of Vermont, described Trump's decision as 'petty and disappointing'. Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul of New York, which shares a border with Canada, stated that 'New York won't be calling it that.'
