Google Meet Adds AI-Powered Note-Taking Feature for In-Person Meetings
Google has rolled out a new feature for its Google Meet service that allows users to take notes during in-person meetings. The feature, which was announced at the Google Cloud Next 2026 event in Las Vegas, uses AI technology to capture and organize meeting notes, including action items and a full transcript.
To use the feature, users simply need to open Google Meet on their web browser or phone, tap the Take notes button from the home screen, and then hit record. The AI-powered Gemini will quietly take note of everything being discussed in the room.
Once the meeting ends, users can wrap up the recording by hitting the same button again, which will then organize the notes into a neat summary, list out action items, and put together the full transcript inside a fresh Google Doc. The Doc is saved to the user's Google Drive, and they'll also receive an email with the link.
The feature is available to users on Business Standard and Plus, Enterprise Standard and Plus, Google AI Pro and Ultra consumer plans, and Frontline Plus, but rollout dates vary by platform: Android users will start seeing it from August 11, web users from August 14, and iOS users no sooner than August 31.
