Google Pics Launches AI-Powered Graphic Design App to Challenge Canva
Google has launched its new graphic design app, Pics, to challenge market leader Canva. The AI-powered tool provides users with pro-level editing capabilities and is now available across Google Workspace, Google AI Pro, and Ultra tiers.
Pics relies on the Nano Banana image-generation model to enable users to generate visuals or upload existing assets from local storage, Google Drive, or Google Photos to start editing.
The app allows users to highlight specific objects in a picture, move them, resize them, or tweak their style without altering the surrounding background. It also handles text elements in graphics, enabling users to tweak wording or translate copy into other languages while preserving original fonts and visual formatting.
Google aims to keep users within its digital boundaries by providing an all-in-one ecosystem for online activities. By collecting user interaction data, Google can sharpen its underlying AI models and targeted advertising systems, making it a profitable move.
