Google Tests New Button Layout for Messages App

Google is testing a new layout for its Messages app, which moves key buttons to make them easier to access. The current setup has the Start chat button in the bottom right corner, while Gemini and Search are placed above it and on the top right corner of the header respectively.

In the new design, Gemini will take over the spot currently occupied by Search in the top right corner, while Start chat moves to the bottom center. The Search icon will be relocated to the bottom of the screen. This change aims to put more buttons within easy reach for users.

The app is also testing a dynamic layout feature that changes how the buttons are displayed based on user interaction. When first opening Messages, the Start chat button expands at the bottom of the screen. However, as you scroll through conversations, it collapses and makes way for Search to expand in its place.
