Google Unveils Gemini 4 Flagship AI Model After Months of Delays
Google has announced the Gemini 4 flagship AI model after months of delays. The new model, called Argon, is larger in size than Google's previous advanced models and is designed for complex workloads.
According to a company spokesperson, Argon is comparable to frontier models like OpenAI's Astra and Anthropic's Opus on key coding and cyber benchmarks.
Google has decided not to release Gemini 3.5 Pro, which was originally set for June, and instead is focusing on the new Argon model.
The months of delays have caused Google to fall behind its competitors, Anthropic and OpenAI, which continued to push the research frontier with new releases to their top models.
