Long-Time Arkansas Resident Harold Frank MacDowell Jr. Passes Away at 94
Harold Frank MacDowell Jr., a long-time resident of Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 94. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1932, MacDowell spent much of his life serving his community through various roles.
MacDowell graduated from the University of Oklahoma and went on to serve as a Captain in the US Army Reserve for 11 years. He later worked with Griffin Grocery Company for 29 years, eventually becoming President of the Wholesale Division. After the company was sold in 1986, MacDowell transitioned into the investment business, working his way up to Vice President-Investments at Shearson American Express.
A devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church, MacDowell held various positions within the congregation, including Senior Warden and Eucharistic Minister. He was also an active participant in Rotary International, serving as club President for both the Muskogee and Fort Smith clubs.
