Ohio has seen over 120 fatalities from residential fires in the past year, with emergency responders attributing many of them to preventable causes.

Jesse Baughman, Educator at the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office, noted that multiple people often fail to escape their burning homes.

The Howland Township Fire Department has responded to four fires in the past three weeks and is warning residents against attempting to re-enter a burning home.

At Home Depot's Safety Day event with the Howland Township Fire Department, families participated in hands-on training using fire extinguishers and hoses, as well as attending an open house on fire safety.
