Google's Climate Leadership Champion Kate Brandt Recognized

Kate Brandt, Google's Climate Leadership champion, has been recognized for her outstanding work in driving sustainability across the company's operations. Prior to joining Google, she made history as the US's first Federal Chief Sustainability Officer, overseeing 360,000 buildings and $445 billion annually in purchased goods and services.

Kate took on her current role as CSO at Google in May 2018 and has since led the company's climate strategy from operational carbon neutrality to driving systemic global decarbonisation. Under her leadership, Google has continuously matched 100% of its annual electricity consumption with renewables while establishing its carbon-free energy commitments.

The company has built a clean energy portfolio exceeding 35 gigawatts and maintained data centre energy efficiency up to 84% above enterprise averages.
