Google's Data Center Boon Brings Billions to Georgia County
A new economic impact study has projected that Google's massive data center development in Columbia County, Georgia could generate up to $4 billion in economic impact over the next 35 years.
The study also predicts that the development will lead to roughly 1,600 new jobs, 472 new local households, and 307 additional students in the Columbia County School System.
Google's commitment to the project represents at least $17 billion in private investment, making it one of the largest private investments in Columbia County's history.
Columbia County officials believe that the revenue generated by the development will support long-term efforts to reduce the homestead property-tax burden for homeowners.
