Google’s October 2026 Android Updates Introduce New Features Across Platforms
Google’s October 2026 system updates for Android introduce a range of new features and improvements across various platforms, including phones, tablets, Wear OS, Android TV, and Auto. The updates primarily focus on enhancements in Play services, Play Store, and Play system updates, with some features targeted at end users and others aimed at developers.
For Android Automotive, the update introduces OEM Design Tokens, allowing manufacturers to customize the color themes of Google apps consistently. On the phone side, developers now have new tools to support Maps-related processes in their apps, and users can view terms and attribution by tapping the info icon next to the Google Maps logo. Additionally, NFC support enables quick access to Find Hub tag details and settings.
The Google Play Store update includes a new AI label for AI-generated images in India, with some exceptions. Users can now track their global influence, including total views and helpfulness votes on their reviews. Meanwhile, Android System Intelligence received bug fixes and maintenance changes.
To update, users can navigate to the Settings app, tap their name at the top for Google services, and then go to the All services tab under Privacy & security. It’s important to note that not all features may be widely available immediately, as some capabilities take months to fully launch.
