HAL Set to Deliver Critical Aircraft Trainers to Indian Air Force

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is set to deliver two Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) MK-1 trainers and the first batch of HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft to the Indian Air Force on Friday. The ceremony will be held at HAL's facility in Bengaluru, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, and IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh in attendance.

The delivery marks a significant milestone for HAL, as it closes the 40-aircraft LCA Mk-1 order placed by the IAF in two tranches in March 2006 and December 2010. The final two twin-seat trainers will wrap up the initial contract, with 38 of the 40 aircraft already handed over.

The HTT-40 basic trainer aircraft is a critical component for the IAF's pilot training program, replacing retired legacy trainers. Powered by a Honeywell turboprop engine, the aircraft can reach speeds up to 450 km/h and has a range of 1,000 km.
