HBI Receives Google Grant to Expand Military Training Program
The Home Builders Institute (HBI) has received a grant from Google.org to expand its training program for transitioning military service members, veterans, and their families. The program offers tuition-free skilled trades training through the US Department of Defense SkillBridge program at 10 locations across the country.
The HBI's goal is to add more training cohorts at existing sites, expand training, and strengthen job placement support with the help of Google.org's grant. This investment aims to help 25,000 veterans and military families build careers in the skilled trades.
Ed Brady, president and CEO of the HBI, emphasizes that this program provides a second career for transitioning service members, leveraging their discipline and leadership skills. The program has already shown success, with an 87% job placement rate among its graduates.
