Home Depot Shifts Focus to Speed Over Sourcing

Home Depot's focus has shifted from explaining where its goods come from to emphasizing how quickly they arrive. In May 2025, management highlighted that over half of Home Depot's purchases were sourced in the United States and vendors had diversified the retailer's global supply chain. However, this information was not mentioned in the August 2026 call.

Since then, Home Depot has focused on its Express Delivery service, launched nationwide in August 2026, which promises tens of thousands of products to be delivered within three hours or less. The company has also cut delivery lead times by about 45% over the past 18 months.

The change in focus may raise questions about the sourcing strategy, but management says that the IEEPA tariff refunds have offset unplanned cost pressures from fuel and energy inputs. However, this benefit is expected to be partially offset in fiscal Q3 2026, when the company reports its results.
