Home Depot Tackles Labor Shortage with Free Skilled Trades Program

The skilled trades are facing a growing labor shortage as older generations approach retirement age. To address this issue, The Home Depot has launched a program called Path to Pro Skills Explorers in partnership with Scouting America and Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

This free program provides young people with access to online resources and hands-on activities to explore viable career paths in skilled trades such as plumbing, construction, and electrical fields.

According to Michael Rowe, executive vice president of Pro for The Home Depot, 'We need more young people to see what's possible and understand the lucrative opportunities these careers provide.'

The goal is to introduce 15 million students to the skilled trades by 2032. The program offers an accessible, no-cost curriculum for youth education groups to learn about the importance of leadership and soft skills in addition to technical skills.
