Honeywell Aerospace Share Price Plummets Amid Defense Budget Uncertainty
Honeywell Aerospace's recent spin-off has not insulated it from market pressure. The company's share price has declined by 41.29% over the past 90 days and 20.75% year-to-date, despite a 1.98% gain in the last week.
The proposed US$1.15 trillion defense budget for 2026 has pushed defense spending into focus, putting Honeywell Aerospace firmly on investor radars. However, momentum may have faded as investors weigh the company's large contract backlog against a sharp reset in expectations around risk and future cash generation.
Honeywell Aerospace trades at a lower price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 25.8x compared to its peers, which average a P/E ratio of 71.4x. This suggests that the market is attaching a more cautious earnings tag to Honeywell Aerospace, despite revenue growth of 9.2% over the past year and high-quality earnings.
However, profit margins have declined from 16.8% to 10.9%, liabilities exceed assets, and debt is not well covered by operating cash flow. These factors can justify some discount if investors are questioning balance sheet strength and negative earnings growth of 29.3% over the last year.
