IBM Study Uncovers Disconnect Between Employer Expectations and Employee Anxieties Over AI
A new study from IBM's Institute for Business Value reveals a disconnect between employers' expectations and employees' anxieties surrounding artificial intelligence. While 71% of Chief Human Resource Officers believe that supervising and validating AI outputs is essential, 60% of employees worry that AI is eroding their skills.
The study found that organizations with clearly defined human-led, AI-assisted, or AI-executed workflows experience an 18% risk reduction and a 20% quality improvement. However, nearly half of the organizations do not include the CHRO in defining AI strategy.
Cecilia McKenney, Senior Vice President & CHRO at Quest Diagnostics, emphasizes that 'an AI-enabled culture that is grounded in the principle that humans are any company's secret sauce will differentiate you versus competitors.' The study also highlights that as AI takes on more routine and process-driven tasks, uniquely human capabilities become even more important.
