JPMorgan Executive Fires Back at Accuser with Defamation Lawsuit
JPMorgan Executive Director Lorna Hajdini has countersued Chirayu Rana, accusing him of defaming her and ruining her reputation. In a Manhattan federal court filing, Hajdani said Rana's accusations are false, causing her to suffer severe anxiety, panic, and fear. She seeks unspecified damages for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and other civil wrongs.
Rana originally filed his lawsuit in July, accusing Hajdini of coercing him into sex and demanding his submissiveness in order to advance his career. He also claimed that JPMorgan Chase irreparably destroyed his career through its acceptance of racism and sexual coercion on his team.
JPMorgan denied Rana's most explosive claims, including that Hajdini blackmailed him into repeated sexual assaults. The bank said it did not reduce Rana to a racial caricature while he worked at the all-white leveraged finance team.
