JPMorgan Chase is bolstering its shareholder engagement practice by hiring Amy Lissauer from Bank of America. Lissauer, a veteran adviser to companies facing pressure from activist investors, will join JPMorgan later this year as global head of Shareholder Engagement and M&A Capital Markets (SEAMAC).

Lissauer has experience advising companies under attack from prominent hedge funds, including Southwest Airlines in its defense against Elliott Investment Management. At Bank of America, she worked with Bill Anderson, one of the industry's most prominent defense bankers.

JPMorgan is expanding its team that works with corporate clients under attack from activist investors. Activism defense has become a lucrative business for major investment banks and boutiques.
