JPMorgan Payments Pioneers Agentic Commerce with Mirakl Partnership
JPMorgan Payments has announced plans to develop agentic commerce capabilities for merchants at an enterprise scale, aiming to power secure transactions in an era where AI agents are transforming customer shopping habits.
The company has partnered with technology firm Mirakl on the service, which is expected to launch later this year. This collaboration will enable merchants to sell directly through large language model (LLM) channels like Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity.
JPMorgan Payments stated that it will invest in advanced tools to facilitate safe and secure payments by integrating with consumer agents, managing agentic fraud risk, and supporting agent-driven channels. The company emphasized that merchants of all sizes will be able to participate in agentic commerce without building and managing complex integrations themselves.
JPMorgan Payments' global head of merchant services, Mike Lozanoff, noted that as agents move from browsing to buying, the key differentiator won't be 'AI', but rather governance: identity, consent, limits, and interoperability at a global scale. He added that their goal is to make autonomy safe and auditable with verified agent identity, user-controlled permissions, and bank-grade risk management built into every payment.
