A New York Knicks fan has found herself in hot water after taking a team-themed trash can from the streets during celebrations for their 2026 NBA championship.

The woman, who was identified by the New York Post and formerly worked at JPMorganChase, is no longer employed by her former company, according to Chase spokespersons.

The incident occurred on June 18 during a parade in Lower Manhattan that drew an estimated 2 million fans. The woman was seen emptying an orange and blue Knicks-themed trash can and walking off with it in a viral TikTok video that has since amassed 7.5 million views.

In addition to losing her job, the woman has also been fined by the Department of Sanitation for 'littering' and 'impeding DSNY operations'. The fines total $175 and are the maximum allowed by law for first offenses.
