Korean Air Revives Melbourne to Seoul Flights After 13-Year Hiatus

Korean Air is reviving direct flights between Melbourne and Seoul for the first time in 13 years, starting December 18, 2026. The airline will operate thrice-weekly seasonal services using Boeing 787-9 aircraft.

The route will provide a convenient connection to South Korea's capital, as well as transit links to wider destinations in Europe, North Asia, and North America. Korean Air will assume sole operation of the Melbourne, Seoul corridor following the completion of its merger with Asiana Airlines.

By choosing direct flights instead of multi-leg stopovers, passengers can reduce carbon emissions associated with taking off and landing at secondary hubs. This move is part of a growing trend towards direct point-to-point connections in long-haul air travel between Australia and Northeast Asia.
