Lufthansa Exercises Options for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 Aircraft
Lufthansa Group has exercised options for 20 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft as part of its ongoing fleet modernization program. The rights were secured in a 2023 order for 40 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, which included 60 purchase options from the Boeing 737 MAX family.
The delivery of these new aircraft is scheduled to begin in the early 2030s and will further strengthen Lufthansa Group's long-term capacity planning. The Boeing 737 MAX 10 consumes around 30% less fuel than older aircraft, while its higher seating capacity reduces unit costs by approximately 20%.
The order has a list value of approximately $3.4 billion and is expected to make an important contribution to reducing carbon emissions and improving efficiency on European routes. By 2035, Lufthansa Group expects to take delivery of more than 250 new aircraft as part of its investment in an efficient and sustainable fleet.
