Lufthansa Technik and JAL Extend TCS Agreement for Boeing 787 Fleet

Lufthansa Technik and Japan Airlines have extended their Total Component Support (TCS) agreement for JAL's Boeing 787 fleet, which will run for at least five years and potentially through 2036. The renewed contract covers up to 67 Dreamliners and includes additional part numbers.

The agreement provides maintenance, reliability management, and logistics services for various components installed on the aircraft, as well as access to Lufthansa Technik's global spare parts pool.

In addition to the TCS extension, Lufthansa Technik and JAL have signed a five-year contract for exclusive spare and repair support for Boeing 787 GEnx-1B engine thrust reversers and inlet cowls. This service will be provided by Lufthansa Technik Shenzhen.

The companies' partnership spans almost two decades, with their first Boeing 787 TCS agreement signed in 2011. Kyohei Takizawa, vice president of aircraft and engineering procurement at Japan Airlines, stated that maintaining long-standing partnerships is crucial in changing times.
