Macquarie Signs $278M Azure Deal Amid Australia's Cloud Spending Boom
Macquarie Cloud Services has signed a Microsoft Datacentre Optimisation agreement worth up to $278 million over three years, one of the largest Azure consumption deals in the Asia-Pacific region. This deal marks Macquarie's third such arrangement with Microsoft and comes as Australian cloud spending is on track to hit $33.6 billion this year.
The agreement will help Australian organisations migrate and modernise their infrastructure, improve efficiency, and innovate faster with Azure. Macquarie says it has delivered average cloud cost savings of 26% for thousands of Australian organisations over the past six years as an Azure Expert Managed Service Provider.
The deal is part of a larger trend in Australia's cloud market, where sovereign policy mandates are driving adoption. The Digital Transformation Agency's new federal Cloud Policy took effect in July, making cloud computing the default consideration for new digital and ICT investment across non-corporate Commonwealth entities.
