McDonald's Aims for 20% Global Chicken Market Share by 2030
McDonald's has set a target to expand its share of the global cooked chicken market by 1.5 percentage points, reaching around 20% by 2030. The company aims to achieve this through a growth plan unveiled at an investor day in Chicago.
The plan includes a $8.5 billion support package for franchisees and a wider rollout of AI-powered drive-thru ordering systems. McDonald's hopes these measures will help it regain market share and reverse its sliding stock price, which dropped 6% after the announcement.
McDonald's is also adapting to changing consumer preferences, including demand for higher-protein options and smaller portions. The company is exploring new menu items such as bowls, grilled chicken, and egg bites to cater to these demands.
