McDonald's Glasgow Teams Clean Up City

On August 11th, four Glasgow McDonald's restaurants came together to participate in a litter-picking relay across the city. The event, inspired by the legacy of the Commonwealth Games, aimed to keep Glasgow clean and beautiful.

The relay began at the Sauchiehall Street restaurant and covered approximately 4.5 kilometres as staff handed over to each other, creating a continuous route through the city. Along the way, they collected 17 bags of rubbish.

This is not the first time McDonald's has supported community clean-ups; for over 35 years, their teams have carried out daily litter patrols around UK restaurants, which cover around 5,000 miles every week. The event was organized in partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful, who supplied equipment and provided support on the day.

Glasgow McDonald's franchisee Matthew Hannam said seeing his team come together to support the relay has been 'incredibly rewarding.' Marc Shenken, owner of the Trongate and Finnieston Street restaurants, added that it was 'fantastic' to work alongside Keep Scotland Beautiful and bring their teams together to help keep Glasgow clean.
