McDonald's Turnaround Plan Shows Signs of Success with 5% Global Sales Growth
McDonald's reported a 5% increase in global sales for its fourth quarter, marking a significant milestone in its turnaround plan to become 'modern and progressive'. The fast-food giant's US operations saw a 5.7% growth, while international markets such as the UK, Canada, and Australia experienced a 4.2% increase.
The company attributed this success to initiatives like the launch of All Day Breakfast in October and unseasonably mild weather, which boosted sales. McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook credited 'bold, urgent action' taken in 2015 for driving these results.
Easterbrook emphasized that the turnaround plan is crucial for restarting growth and achieving the company's goal. He stated, 'We are demonstrating that our turnaround plan is key to restarting growth and becoming a modern and progressive burger company.'
