McDonald's Unveils Long-Term Growth Strategy With Ambitious Financial Targets
McDonald's announced its long-term growth strategy, McDonald's NEXT, at its Investor Day in Chicago. The company outlined four pillars: Menu, Consumer, Restaurant, and People. A key target is an operating margin of low-to-mid 50% by 2030, up from current levels.
McDonald's aims for free cash flow conversion in the mid-to-high 80% range. Unit expansion will contribute nearly 2.5% to systemwide sales growth in 2027 and moderate to around 2% by 2030. The company plans to provide approximately $8.5B in total partnering support through 2036, with roughly $5B of that deployed through 2030.
The strategy includes the rollout of ArchIQ, a generative AI tool being deployed across U.S. and International Operated Markets. A new consumer-facing program called Make It Golden is scheduled to launch on Oct. 5, 2026. McDonald's serves more than 70 million customers daily and operates over 46,000 restaurants globally.
The stock was trading at $253.07 in pre-market as of Sept. 23, 2026, up 1.09% from the prior close of $250.35. This suggests a positive market reaction to the targets.
