Merck Canada Collaborates with Montreal Museum of Fine Arts on North American Premiere of Chiharu Shiota Exhibition

Merck Canada has partnered with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to present the North American premiere of Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Trembles. This contemporary art exhibition, showcasing over thirty years of Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota's work, will run from September 26, 2026, to February 14, 2027. Merck Canada is the presenting partner and has a natural alignment with the museum through their shared values.

The exhibition features Shiota's signature thread installations, which are meticulously hand-woven in situ, alongside eight delicate sculptures, performance videos, drawings, and rare archival documents. These site-specific works convey complex emotions such as vulnerability, memory, and hope, informed by the artist's own health challenges.

The partnership with the MMFA reflects this commitment, as they collaborate on an art and health initiative for community groups impacted by cancer.
