Meta's Surprise Announcement Sparks Enterprise Software Market Selloff
Meta's surprise announcement sent shockwaves through the enterprise software market on Monday, with Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Snowflake plummeting by as much as 4.99% in minutes.
The sudden drop was triggered by a Meta newsroom post announcing the launch of an enterprise platform and the hiring of MongoDB CEO CJ Desai as chief enterprise platform officer.
The platform's details are still scarce, but Meta's July earnings call hinted at a mix of subscriptions, volume-based pricing, and results-based fees for its products. Mark Zuckerberg described the opportunity as 'a large enterprise opportunity to sell to businesses'.
Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Snowflake were among the hardest hit, with MongoDB taking the biggest fall, dropping 20.9% to $324.54. Meta's own stock slipped 3.97% to $721.83, four days after reaching a 52-week high of $777.59 on September 24.
