Microsoft has announced its largest data center deployment in India to date, a move that will intensify the cloud fight with Google and Amazon. The new facility, located in Hyderabad, is part of Microsoft's $20.5 billion investment in India's cloud and AI ecosystem.

The India South Central region is expected to accelerate demand for Azure, which has posted strong double-digit growth in India over the past two years. With this expansion, Microsoft now operates four Azure cloud regions in India.

Microsoft President of India and South Asia Puneet Chandok said customers are increasingly looking to move beyond AI experimentation toward deploying production-scale applications. He added that the company's strategy is to provide the infrastructure, security, and data sovereignty needed for enterprise AI adoption.
