Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 have a reputation for being essential tools for productivity. However, there are open-source alternatives that offer similar functionality without the hefty price tag.

LibreOffice is one such alternative to Microsoft Office. It offers a complete office suite with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. What's more, it's free to use, has no account requirements, and can run on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems.

One of the concerns when switching from Microsoft Office to LibreOffice was compatibility. However, recent versions have largely solved this issue, with Microsoft Office files opening and saving without formatting issues.

Another tool that has a paid alternative is Thunderbird, which offers a complete desktop email client. It supports IMAP, POP3, and native Microsoft Exchange email, making it a viable option for those looking to ditch Outlook.
