Microsoft is overhauling its Copilot AI assistant by merging personal and work experiences into a single app. The new Microsoft Copilot app will provide a unified brand, simplified user experience, and clear account indicators.

The update aims to consolidate the fragmented experience of Copilot across multiple apps, account types, and entry points. This change is part of Microsoft's effort to bring clarity and consistency to its users.

Organizations will retain their existing security, compliance, governance, and administrative controls. The new app will also introduce enhanced AI capabilities and higher usage limits for Microsoft 365 subscribers.

The rollout begins this month with the web and mobile versions of the app, followed by the redesigned desktop apps in mid-September. Microsoft recommends that organizations notify employees about the updated name, icon, and URL.
