Microsoft Unveils Surface PCs with Faster Snapdragon X2 Plus Processors

Microsoft has unveiled two new Surface PCs at the Snapdragon Summit, both powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus processor. The devices are the Surface Pro 12-inch and the Surface Laptop 13-inch.

The Surface Pro 12-inch remains flexible, switching between tablet and laptop modes with its detachable keyboard. It also supports the Surface Slim Pen. The device has a 500-nit PixelSense touchscreen, which is 25% brighter than the previous generation. Microsoft claims that the new processor adds an extra hour of active web browsing. The device weighs 1.5 pounds and includes two USB-C ports.

The Surface Pro 12-inch starts at $1,149.99 and will ship on October 13 in select markets. Its keyboard and Slim Pen are sold separately. Ink Canvas, an AI-powered pen-focused experience for sketching and annotating, comes preinstalled on the new Pro and will be available through the Microsoft Store on October 13.

The Surface Laptop 13-inch takes a more traditional approach with a full-size backlit keyboard, precision touchpad, and 3:2 PixelSense touchscreen. The device has up to 22.5 hours of local video playback battery life and up to 18 hours of active web use. It starts at $1,199.99 and configurations include 16GB or 24GB of memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
