Microsoft Unveils Updated Surface Laptops and Tablets with Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus

Microsoft has updated its affordable laptop and tablet lines with new models powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus chip. The Surface Laptop (13-inch) and Surface Pro (12-inch) tablets are now available for pre-order, with sales starting on October 13.

The devices feature a 6-core Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus processor paired with a Qualcomm Adreno GPU, along with LPDDR5x RAM ranging from 16 to 24 GB and storage capacities of 256 or 512 GB based on UFS drives. The laptop's screen has a resolution of 1920 by 1280 pixels with a 3:2 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 500 nits.

The Surface Pro tablet also features a touchscreen display with the same resolution, peak brightness, and adaptive refresh rate as the laptop, but with an optional support for 5G mobile networks in certain corporate models.

Microsoft claims that the new models deliver 17% higher performance in Microsoft Office tasks, consume 18% less power to conserve battery life, provide more than 60% more powerful graphics, and perform AI inference processes on the neural chip 95% faster compared to their predecessors.
