Microsoft Updates Surface Laptop 13-Inch with Snapdragon X2 Plus Processor

Microsoft has updated its Surface Laptop 13-inch model, upgrading it with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus processor and increasing the display brightness to 500 nits. The new processor is backed by an 80-TOPS NPU for supported local AI workloads, making this generation more capable on paper.

The company claims that the updated Surface Laptop 13-inch delivers up to 17% faster Office productivity performance, more than 60% faster graphics, and up to 95% faster local AI inference compared with the previous Snapdragon X Plus model. Microsoft also advertises up to 22.5 hours of local video playback and up to 18 hours of active web use.

The Surface Laptop 13-inch retains its compact design and fanless operation, weighing just 2.7 pounds. The display remains at 60Hz, but the laptop now includes two USB-C/USB 3.2 ports, one USB-A 3.2 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device is available in select markets starting from October 13, with a U.S. configuration price of $1,199 for 16GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS storage.
