Midcap Stocks Plummet Amidst Indian Market Sell-Off
The Indian stock market experienced a sharp sell-off on Monday, September 28, as the benchmark Sensex plummeted by 1,124 points to close at 72,771. Amidst this decline, eight midcap stocks from the BSE 150 Midcap Index hit fresh 52-week lows, marking their lowest price levels in the past year.
A 52-week low is an indicator of a stock's recent price performance and refers to its lowest price traded over the past year. Among these eight stocks, Procter & Gamble Hygiene and Health Care stood at Rs 6875, down about 15% in the last month, while Havells India reached Rs 1074.3, with a decline of around 11%. Bharti Hexacom hit Rs 1421.9, falling by approximately 8%, followed by REC at Rs 303.5, down by 7%. SJVN touched Rs 60.59, also down by 7%, while ACC reached Rs 1212, experiencing a similar decline of around 7%.
The remaining two stocks that hit fresh 52-week lows were General Insurance Corporation of India at Rs 328.1 and UPL at Rs 543, both down by approximately 7% and 4%, respectively.
